The housing stock covers a complete range of tenures, including general needs houses and flats, sheltered and extra care homes, and leasehold properties.

The majority of homes are located in five main population centres: Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Street and Wells. Frome has by far the largest number, with more than 1,100 homes. Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet both have more than 400 and Street and Wells have in excess of 500 each. The remaining properties are located in rural villages throughout the district.
