Many Mendip Housing homes do not have the type of heating system found in the Taunton home. But this is what we are doing to make sure our homes are safe.

As a precaution, we are now:

  • Inspecting all immersion heater thermostats as part of our annual free service to gas, solid fuel and oil-fired heating appliances in our homes
  • Visiting all homes with electric heating to inspect their immersion heaters
  • Installing a new safety cut-out device if it’s necessary which cuts out the electric supply to the immersion cylinder should a fault happen

If you notice any of the following problems with your heating get in touch with Mendip Housing straightaway:

  • There’s an unexpected rise in the temperature of your hot water
  • There is warm or hot water coming out of your cold taps
  • You hear any unusual noises from your heating system including banging or bubbling

If any of these problems happen you need to:

  • Turn off your immersion heater straightaway using the switch which can usually be found near the hot water cylinder in your airing cupboard
  • Report the fault to us by ringing the numbers below
