Flourish Homes’s Glastonbury and Street tenants whose finances are in a poor state of health are being invited to see the Money Doctor on Friday August 1.
Staff from the local housing provider, which is a member of the Aster Group, will be on hand alongside the Mendip Community Credit Union and CAB on the Windmill Hill estate to help tenants who have money worries.
The Money Doctor surgery – which is offering a free financial health check-up for tenants – opens for business between 10am and 4pm on Friday August 1 at the St Edmunds Community Hall, Windmill Hill in Glastonbury.
“This is the fourth Money Doctor surgery we’ve held to help our tenants who’ve got a bit of a cash crisis,” explained Flourish Homes’s Income Recovery Manager Terry Pitfield.
“We organise these special surgeries to give free advice to our tenants who are having problems paying all their bills. When you’ve got lots of bills to pay it’s hard to know which one to prioritise. However, our tenants need to know that paying their rent is a top priority because if they fall badly into arrears they could lose their home.
“But paying all the bills can cause real problems so we are here to help them look at their finances, prioritise what needs to be paid and get a financial plan in place to help them get on top of things. The credit union and CAB will also be on hand to offer help and advice about low cost loans and any other matters, like threatening creditors, which they might be concerned about.
“Any Flourish Homes tenant who needs financial help can come along – the service is free and there’s no need to make an appointment. They can drop in any time between 10am and 4pm.”
